I can feel some time on octaves coming up at my next piano lesson.
They feature in the development section of Schubert’s A major sonata D664. Here’s one of many performances on Youtube.
And Liszt’s Valle d’Obermann features 3 or more pages of them. I couldn’t believe it when my teacher suggested I look at it. However, there are sections where the technical demands are not so great, unlike the Etude in F minor which I have also started looking at. There, there is no respite for the Left Hand – 5 minutes full on.
Another piece which I looked at last year is the Debussy Danse – octaves again!
